In August 1983, having expanded to a membership of 89, the orchestra split into two. The Civic Orchestra was formed, and the HCO continued. Among other local “firsts”, the HCO pioneered orchestra concerts on a barge in the Inner Harbor which featured very young local soloists.

 

For many years the HCO provided concerts for residents of local retirement homes including Berwick House, Wellesley, Sunset lodge,  Parkwood, the Priory, as well as twice-annual concerts at the Les Passmore Centre. In recent years the HCO has performed public concerts at Holy Cross Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Anglican Church, the Shoal Centre, and the Spectrum School Theater.
