In
August 1983, having expanded to a membership of 89, the orchestra
split into two. The Civic Orchestra was formed, and the HCO
continued. Among other local “firsts”, the HCO pioneered
orchestra concerts on a barge in the Inner Harbor which featured

Parkwood, the Priory, as well as twice-annual concerts at the
Les Passmore Centre. In recent years the HCO has
performed public concerts at Holy Cross Catholic Church, St.
Peter’s Anglican Church, the Shoal Centre, and the Spectrum
School Theater.
